Travel Planning - Alaska

Okay, so travel is one of mine and the hubby's biggest interests. Right now, the hot topic of discussion is where to go on summer vacation. It's fun to spend the month of January deciding where to go. Then you can spend February though May thinking and planning and reading and obsessing about it.

June 2009 it was France. How do you top that? The Louvre, Versaille and the Hall of Mirrors, Mont St. Michel, and let's not forget strolling down the Champs Elysees on our anniversary. (Thank you, hubby!)

London was June 2010. The Tower, The Globe, and Phantom of the Opera in Her Majesty's Theater, snacking on the steps of the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. Unforgettable.

Now for June 2011. How about Alaska? Land of the Midnight Sun. Maybe a cruise? I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, between the ages of 4 and 5, and even though I was quite young, the images and events are etched in the memory. Building (or trying) an igloo, walking to school in -50 degree weather (only a couple of blocks), trying to go to sleep when the sun was still full in the sky. Thank God for foil on windows! Salmonella poisoning and a week in the hospital. These are things that you can't experience by going on a cruise, but Alaska is without a doubt, some of the most beautiful country you can see. Just ask kids and friends that have gone before. I think it's only fair that the hubby should witness this splendor firsthand. So, first on the ballot is Alaska.
